RYT 200
My yoga journey began in 2010 to compliment distance running and cycling. My perception of yoga was that it was slow and boring. Living in Vermont and being in a cold climate, I decided to try a hot yoga class. It was very challenging and not boring at all!
I had back surgery at age 48 and had to hang up my running shoes. I turned to yoga to help rehabilitate my back and to stay physically fit. It was then that I began to fully appreciate all the other benefits yoga offers. I had always enjoyed the physicality of the practice, but over time began to realize what a powerful tool it was for stress relief and reducing anxiety.
I moved to Bluffton in 2016 with my husband Phil and it was then that I started attending classes almost daily at the wonderful Jiva studio. I began to get stronger and more fit, and thought I was living my best life. Then my husband died suddenly, and I found myself widowed at age 50. The emotional, spiritual and mental health benefits from yoga became truly life saving for me. I found that my yoga mat was the only place I could put down my “backpack of grief” and fully breathe.
The healing I received from yoga turned a hobby into my passion and that is why I made the decision to do teacher training with Stacy and Dave Dockins at The Yoga Project in Fort Worth, TX in July 2019.
I am so grateful for this life-changing opportunity. At each class I teach, my goal is to share my passion with others and help them on their own yoga journey. I would love to meet you on your mat.
